Magical Moments

My third Disney day began with a whole lot of character at EPCOT.

It was a truly joyous day.

I was sad thinking about having to leave Disney soon.

I felt better after a hug from my healthcare companion.

I saw my former boss.

Mickey and his pals loved my ears.

I wasn’t the only goofy character in the room.

Minnie was as delightful as ever.

With just over a week left until Christmas, the festive spirit was in the air.

The Joyful Singers brought a little of the Holy Spirit into the mix.

I set off around the world. First came Canada.

I sipped a spot of tea with Mary in the UK.

Then I passed through Morrocco.

I was subsequently impressed by the acrobatic prowess in China.

I learnt about Christmas traditions in Norway.

They get three days of Christmas, and rather than milk and cookies, Santa is partial to porridge and a stein of ale.

I then weaved through Anna and Elsa’s home to meet the Arendelle royalty.

Anna and I share a mutual love of chocolate.

Faux Norway is quite beautiful. Maybe one day soon I’ll get to the real one.

After some warm hugs it was time to use my fast pass on Frozen Ever After.

The ride was worth a fast pass if you’re not interested in the other rides in its category. I also wouldn’t recommend waiting too long in line, unless you’re obsessed with Frozen and long lines never bothered you, anyway.

After the cute passage through Frozen I headed off to Magic Kingdom to check out their new fireworks show. I arrived at 6:45pm for the 9pm showing, and didn’t even find a prime position. I squeezed in between a few people, but there was a family right where I wanted to stand.

Not long before the sparks were ready to start flying the 4 year old in the family announced to the surrounding crowd, “My sister’s going to the potty.”

Off went the father and the sister, and in a magical moment they didn’t return until after the fireworks finished.

I had a great spot to judge the Wishes replacement.

Wishes held a special place in my heart, which has now been buried underneath the truly innovative and spectacular Happily Ever After.

Featuring a little less fireworks, but a lot more projections, it was worth the over two hour wait.

I’m not even sorry about all the photos I took.

A short time after Happily Ever After was another Castle show with projections, titled Once Upon A Time.

Featuring a plethora of Disney classics, it was a magical conclusion to a beautiful day.

The Magic Continues

Once upon a most magical morning I strolled right up to a charming performance.

I continued my amble up Main Street towards every Disney fan’s Mecca.

I perched myself on the pavement with a view of Cinderella’s Castle. I was ready for the Festival of Fantasy Parade to begin.

I was greeted by royalty.

Colour was splashed throughout the Kingdom.

Subjects danced through the town.

Evil tried to destroy the beautiful occasion.

Maleficient sure knows how to gatecrash.

Prince Philip won the battle and the day was bright again.

Ok, so not quite all of the remaining guests were Happy.

The big mouse and his pals made an appearance.

I milled around the front of the castle until Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire began.

It featured the famous five and a whole host of other Disney favourites.

We were transported to the Snuggly Duckling,

a jazzy New Orleans,

and a wintry Arendelle.

All the characters joined forces in a celebration of friendship.

My next stop was Animal Kingdom to meet up with a fellow former Pizza Planetear, Michael.

We explored the unique flora of Pandora to the beat of our own drums.

I came across some women dancing in Africa. Michael was ordering his dinner, so I joined the women in a little broom dance.

After my sweeping performance we decided to sit in the audience of Festival of the Lion King.

One of Disney’s newer offerings that came along with the extended hours of Animal Kingdom is the night time safari. My sad iPhone 5 camera couldn’t keep up with the nocturnal creatures.

We saw a hyena with a stick being chased by another hyena, and we heard two lionesses and one lion roaring what I can only assume was their rendition of The Circle of Life.

Pandora might be even more beautiful by night.

The Tree of Life now comes alive at night with a variety of short shows. You might see a deer bounding through a field, or birds soaring across the land.

Michael and I sat and waited for Rivers of Light. Before the dazzling display started Michael insisted I try a Ghost Drink.

I have since discovered it is called the Himalayan Ghost Cocktail. It would be a tragedy if it ever disappeared. Michael was kind enough to buy one for each of us. The beverage was a delicious accompaniment to the animals and flowers floating across a gently rippling river.

Michael then drove me over to Disney Springs where I caught a little live music before catching up on the past two years of gossip with Jeremy and Steven at Splitsville.

I thought about taking photos of the food and the bar, but I wasn’t there to review the restaurant. I was there for the company. Jeremy drove me back to my hotel, so I could recover ahead of another day of Disney fun.
