I’d been dreaming of a white Christmas, and after 29 years it finally happened. I awoke to a light blanket of snow. We captured a few memories of our first white Christmas. This photo was courtesy of the kind lady serving breakfast who noticed our enthusiasm about the snow, and offered to take a photo.
Today’s breakfast included the most delicious cinnamon rolls.
Mum and I enjoyed the Holiday Inn’s reception area, while Carlos scraped the snow off the car.
The friendly Holiday Inn receptionist provided us with complimentary cookies, nuts and water upon checking out. On our way to our Christmas lunch destination we spotted a front yard that would make the most magical backdrop, but we kept driving... Just kidding... we jumped out for a photo shoot. After parking the car, that is.

We made the most of the winter wonderland.

A snowball fight ensued because what else do you do on a white Christmas?

Alicia had obviously been wanting to throw snow in her husband’s face for some time.

The white Christmas was surpassing expectations.

Samuel and Carlos engaged in their favourite pastime of photoshoots with alcohol.

Samuel, Amy, Nicolas, Andrew, Zachary and Lucas really welcomed us into their family for our few days in Connecticut.

We continued our journey to realise the random yard was just a few houses from our Christmas lunch destination.
We’d been invited to share the day with the Velasquez clan at Amy’s mother’s beautifully decorated home. We were welcomed with a divine concoction of champagne, ginger ale and strawberries.
A festive spread that had been prepared since 3am was served.
I finally understood some people’s obsession with mac n cheese.
The feast filled me up, but as always my separate dessert stomach needed to be filled.
Zachary may have an even bigger sweet tooth than me.

I tried to get a selfie with one of my new furry friends, but it didn’t quite work.
We sat for an official portrait. They say dogs look like their owners. I’d only spent a few hours with Bailey and we were already starting to morph into each other.
The rest of the day was spent with Monopoly, displaying an embarrassing lack of ball skills, and a final photoshoot.

The bar for Christmas has now been set really high. Who knows what this Christmas will bring. On a positive note, it’s only just under six months away because I’m so far behind with my blogging.
