Happy Birthday to You... and you... and you...

Sometimes people like to celebrate the day they were born and I like to help them.

Happy Birthday Brandon

I gate crashed a birthday celebration at Whispering Canyon Cafe because I can not get enough of the bottomless milkshakes

or the ketchup (it almost feels normal not calling it tomato sauce).

On this visit I rode around the restaurant on one of the horses reserved for the younger guests... not once, but twice.

I'd heard great things about the duelling piano bar, Jelly Rolls.

When I arrived I saw no evidence of great things. It was kind of average, so we hit up the Atlantic Dance Hall instead. Kyra and I walked into the club like, what up? We got a big shock when it became one of the best nights of our program.

Happy Birthday Kyra

This auspicious occasion called for breakfast with an English flavour. 1900 Park Fare introduced us to Alice,

the Mad Hatter, Mary Poppins,

Tigger

and Pooh.

Boatwright's Dining Hall provided us with twinning meals.

A piƱa colada, chicken and waffles and pecan pie to die for. Ok, so I probably wouldn't go quite that far, but they were delicious meals.

Kyra found faith, trust and special birthday pixie dust.

Happy Birthday Alicia

There was a birthday. There was a parade. This particular parade was frozen. And it was specifically for my sister's birthday. They'd practised in front of guests every day for two months just to perfect it. Disney really goes above and beyond for their guests.

Once again the English culture lended itself to another birthday celebration. Alicia, Carlos, Kyra and I ate at the Rose and Crown Pub on a torrentially rainy afternoon. After lunch rubbish (trash for the Americans) bags doubled as ponchos.

After faux England and real rain we relaxed briefly before heading back to Hollywood Studios for the Frozen Fireworks. They weren't exactly memorable, but I had to see the fireworks that had been scaring me after work every night.

After fireworks Kyra and I had grand plans of recreating our "spectacular" karaoke moments on a new stage. This stage,at Rising Star on Universal's City Walk, was a little more intimidating. We were both a little relieved to realise we were too late to sing. Maybe next time...

Treat Yo Self

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party continued and so did our hunger. For our super appetites Thor opted for fries and then we both devoured specialty Halloween cupcakes.

Miss Captain America joined forces with napkins to ward off the evil crumbs.

Hallowishes were a real treat.

Then it was time for unlimited treats of the edible kind. We travelled from line to line in a single bound.

At one station we discovered no line, then we found out we'd been tricked into accepting craisins as a "treat". Not cool, Mickey.

Thor and Miss Captain America joined the Monsters and their littlest fan for a dance party. She thought we were some sort of Hi-5 that was missing 3 of its members.

Even superheroes aren't immune to the calls of nature and navigational challenges.

There were villains to tame, but we borrowed a couple of Prince Charming's noble steeds to slay the rogue teacups.

Honourary Avenger, Goofy's feeble attempts to lift Thor's hammer were sadder than realising the party was almost over.

The party was secheduled to end at midnight when all the pumpkins were to turn back into carriages. But we rounded the corner to discover a final showing of the Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular.

Miss Captain America and Thor boarded the Transtar bus and transformed back to Clary and Anna.

You Scared?

If you were at Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party you probably weren't that scared.

The night was months in the making. Anna I requested time off, bought tickets and materials to make our costumes. With all that preparation you'd think we would've put our costumes together a little earlier than a few hours before the party.

We left a little later than intended, but scrubbed up a lot better than expected in our DIY costumes. Even one of the security guards at Patterson complimented us, giving me my new name Miss Captain America. Then we were stopped for a selfie on the way to the bus.

Sometimes superheroes have to catch Transtar too.

We were welcomed by an array of pumpkins.

Then came the parade. I was getting a little hangry, wondering if it would be worth the wait.

It was frightfully awesome, especially the Haunted Mansion dancers with shovels. I've never seen dancers with garden tools before, but I want to see more. I bet they could really work a rake or a hoe.

The party was only just beginning, unlike this blog post. But stay tuned for answers to the important questions, like "What do superheroes eat for dinner?"
