Happy Days in Wisconsin

Kyra and I decided to check out how the other half of society have lived.

I briefly imagined I also lived like that.

Our visit to the Pabst Mansion was during the festive season, so we saw the crib pimped our Christmas style.

We sussed out where the rich people ate...

slept...

read...

and pooped.

After pretending to be rich we sauntered over to the library to masquerade as intellectuals.

Just kidding. We spent the majority of our time in the children’s section.

We got lost in some books

and found exactly where we belong.

The Central Library isn’t the only beautiful building in Milwaukee.

We did the RiverWalk and discovered koi fish on the wall.

Kyra really wanted to find the koi in the pavement. For that we would have to keep our heads down.

We met up with Fonzie.

Then we headed over to the Third Ward where we found the Milwaukee Public Market.

This would be a good option for a bite to eat if we were hungry. For the first time in our lives, neither of us was hungry.

Then it happened. We found the koi on the concrete!

Apparently there are lots of art galleries in the Third Ward. We struggled to find one, but we did.

Then we found out about the Marshall Building. That’s where all the galleries are located. Six levels of them.

On the first level we met a really talented, friendly artist who specialises in cityscape paintings. We spent about twenty minutes here talking about art and life.

After our artistic chat, Kyra and I rode the lift up to level 6 with the plan to work our way down each level. Well, the studios were closed, but the artists on level 6 were kind enough to let us walk around. There were some artists still working. We even stopped and talked to one of them about their artistic process.

We took a festive stroll through Pere Marquette Park.

Wisconsin’s big sporting team is the Green Bay Packers. They are very popular and tickets to watch them play NFL are expensive and highly sought after. The Milwaukee Bucks are basically the opposite. Kyra got us last minute tickets for $10 each, the stadium had a lot of empty seats, and we got free hats.

The game had all the entertainment you would expect from a basketball game.

Plus some you wouldn’t. There was a buck flying around. What the buck?

Let’s play a game called “Where’s the buck?”

Most people couldn’t give a buck about the team, but I saw children making signs and decided I wanted one too.

The Bucks aren’t usually thought of as a talented, winning team, but they proved the haters wrong when they staged a comeback from 20 points down to net the win.

It was a winning day in Milwaukee.
