A Finger Lickin' Good Time

The pumpkins carved the night before provided great photo props the next morning.

Here I am with Paige. I'm the one on the left.

And this is me with the other Aussie in the tribe, Alex.

I'm not exactly a fan of the Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise back home in Australia, but I thought it would be nice to pay my respects to the man who started it all.

So off the TSPP squad went to KFC.

The experience was honestly a little confusing. What sides do I want? What sauce do I want? Surprise me.

Actually, don't. I'll take the wedges, biscuit, honey mustard sauce and finger lickin' good sauce.

Just eating KFC wasn't enough. Paige, Lexi, Alex, Taylor and I headed off to Cave Hill Cemetry, found the Colonel's grave

and had a picnic.

That may be too weird for some people.

It got weirder. Strange things were happening. A car rolled up and a Kentucky native exited. Was she going to ask us to leave? Tell us our picnic was inappropriate?

Just the opposite. She liked our picnic idea and pointed to the Aussies in her car, who wanted to see the grave too. Alex and I got a little excited about seeing fellow countrymen, especially in such a bizarre situation. They joined the graveside feast briefly then drove off enquiring about the location of the nearest KFC.

We left tokens of respect before a leisurely drive around the cemetry.

Then we jetted off to the airport saying, "See ya real soon!"

I'll be seeing Paige sooner than I thought. I'm going back in a month for my first Thanksgiving.
