The One Hundred Gazillion Foot Journey

Just under a minute into the journey in the shuttle the driver took a wrong turn. Look, it wasn't a great start, but it was a start. After another detour to the Great Western Highway to do an almost rolling passport pick up for a lady already at the airport we (my mum and I) too were at the airport.

After eating lunch at the airport my mum said she needed to go somewhere and left me sitting at the table... alone... wondering if she had decided to leave me without a goodbye. But then I saw my friends Leesh (who came on the last adventure) and Laur approaching the table. They had been colluding with my mum to organise a surprise farewell.

Following a few tears the time came security screening and I even won the lottery to be tested for traces of explosives. After getting on the plane I was grateful for all the security check points because there is no way you could accidentally hop on the wrong plane, realise at the next stop and jump on another one going in the right direction.

I took the liberty of watching a bunch of movies on the first plane. Here are my top picks in the Movies/TV shows to Watch on Long Haul Flights category. Breakfast at Tiffany's, Gangs of New York, The Departed, Inglorious Basterds and episodes of The Mindy Project.

I had my first culture clash when I declared my muesli bars to customs. The guy didn't know what a museli bar was. Momentarily I wasn't sure if my dearest possession, my muesli bars wouldn't be allowed entry. Don't fret. *SPOILER* My muesli bars and I made it safely to our destination.

On the second flight I won the awesome empty-seat-next-to-you lottery.  I had a legit nap for like an hour and then got off the plane and waited a while for my bags to appear. They did. I gave my sister a hug on behalf of Australia and was driven back to her apartment by Carlos (the bro-in-law). The journey to my next adventure was complete.
