To Infinity and Beyond

My time in America felt like the year of goodbyes. Now I had to farewell one of my closest, most supportive, generous friends.

It was a friendship that began while catching pizzas and a few meatball subs falling from the TSPP oven.

It was a friendship that flourished in Magic Kingdom. We can't remember who did the inviting, but we're glad it happened.

It was a friendship that featured memorable quotes, such as, "Get out of the trunk! Wait. That's not what I call it. Get out of the boot!"

There was also the conversation as Kyra slept on the E bus home from work at about 10:30pm. (Keep in mind Kyra undercooked a pack of Kraft Mac 'N Cheese.)
"I'm going to make chicken wings."
"When?"
"Tonight."
"Do you even have stuff to make them?"
"No."
Needless to say, no chicken wings were made that night.

It was a friendship that saw us sitting on my Patterson apartment lounge eating a midnight bowl of Special K and a pizza we'd ordered from the only restaurant that would deliver to housing.

Sometimes we'd have Ramen followed by Tim Tam Slams in our jim jams.

While we stuffed our faces we'd watch the best show we could find. Sometimes that included copying the moves in the final song from Pitch Perfect. Other times it involved watching Cops and empathising with a guy that got a bit violent because someone ate his taco. We also understood the confusion of a guy who had all fours on the ground while being yelled at to get on the ground. One time we wondered why "I Believe I Can Fly" wasn't played as a cop was winched into the air clutching a large cannibis crop.

It was a friendship that was served with an appetiser, main, dessert and cocktail at every weekly date.

It was a friendship that included a few twists and turns on the Atlantic Dance Hall floor.

It was also a friendship that meant sharing secrets while rocking on chairs because we were too full to move after a buffet breakfast.

Even across seas and time zones it is a friendship that will continue to infinity and beyond. Xoxo
